TRANSFORM FOOD

Transform Food is the team behind the delicious food in filo.

But they’re so much more than just great chefs…

Let’s be honest, life isn’t equal for everyone. We don’t all get the same opportunities. There are all sorts of barriers to employment. Things like long term unemployment, a lack of confidence, mental or physical ill-health, a lack of training, experience and references, drug and alcohol dependency and release from prison.

Transform Food wants to flip the script. We create pathways to work for people experiencing these challenges through training opportunities within a supportive, structured and encouraging environment.

Who do we work with?

Anyone who’s facing these significant barriers to work can be part of our catering project. Because we work with several agencies and get to know their client groups through our other projects and our referrals mostly come from those places, places like theCommunity Integration Unit at HMP Grampian , the unpaid work team (Community Payback Orders), Criminal Justice Social Work, the Job Centre and several charities, including our own projects and services. Adult men and women of all ages, all faiths and none can be part of our catering project scheme.

How do we do it?

Transform Food supports participants by offering short to medium term work placements in our catering kitchen. But we don’t stop there We look to help each individual find long term work by:

• Sourcing training

• Building relationships with local businesses who may be able to offer future work placements

• Weekly coaching sessions to provide feedback and build confidence

• Carrying out mock interviews

• Helping prepare CVs and job applications

• Ensuring there is a positive outcome at the end of the work placement period

• Building a bespoke, person centred, development package for everyone

• Caring for the whole person, considering their social, emotional and physical needs

How can you help?

By choosing filo you’re already making a huge difference. Thank you!

We’d also love it if you could tell your world about our story, leave us a review or consider using our catering services for an event. You can also give to our work financially or drop off food donations next time you’re at filo. These donations and any food left over at filo is given to our community pantry, helping people facing food insecurity.
